Holstein Canada unveiled January 15 the names of the 19 master-breeders for 2021. Quebec had the most wins throughout the country with 10 farms that received the prestidigious title.
Excerpts from the article in La Terre de chez nous of 17 January 2022:
Les fermes Belfast Holstein (Chaudière-Appalaches), Bergeroy Holstein (Centre-du-Québec), Cloutier et Frères (Laurentides), Floroma (Portneuf), Germec (Mauricie), Mercury (Montérégie), Pierriche (Chaudière-Appalaches), Plainelac (Chaudière-Appalaches), Jaton & Gremion (Estrie) et Dave Tourigny (Centre-du-Québec) were rewarded for their breeding efforts.
Holstein Canada Master Breeders are known for raising herds of cows with high milk production and outstanding conformation, with great reproductive skills, health and longevity. Since 1929, Holstein Canada has issued over 1,000 plaques to members across the country.
La Ferme Bergeroy Holstein, de Saint-Samuel in the Centre-du-Québec, was awarded for a second time. Its first titled was obtained in 2007. “This is the highest recognition a Holstein breeder can get. It’s a great source of pride to be recognized twice,” says co-owner René Bergeron, who attributes his farm’s success to the conformation and longevity of his animals, as well as the importance he places on their comfort.
We would like to offer our most sincere congratulations to all master breeders and especially to our 3 clients: Ferme Bergeroy Holstein, Ferme Jaton-Gremion and Ferme Pierriche for this coveted title!
